Used Honda Civic Review. Part 1.

Honda Civic first appeared at the car market over 30 years ago, in July, 1972. The total sales of

Honda Civic for the past thirty years have reached more than 15 mln cars. Over 600,000 such
cars have been produced in the company’s production facilities in eleven countries of the world.

Size

The seventh generation of used Honda Civic is a bit shorter (-20 mm), yet it is wider (+20
mm) and higher (+50 mm) than the older version. Most importantly, these positive changes are
reflected in the size of the compartment – in many respects, it is a class-leading car in terms of
spaciousness. It took a great deal of effort and thought to achieve this spectacular result. For
example, the steering gear is now placed higher, which leads to a smaller engine compartment. A
more compact rear suspension made it possible to increase the trunk volume by 40 L. The body
of used Honda Civic has much greater stiffness – the whole of the bearing frame is made of high-
resistance steel.

Engine

1.4 and 1.6-L engines of used Honda Civic have not been thrown overboard. Just as powerful
as they used to be, both types now have extra torque. For instance, the 1.6-L engine with 110
horsepowers develops a torque of 152 n/m at 4300 rpm – compare with 143 n/m at 4800 rpm in
the previous generation.

Transmission

The automatic transmission of used Honda Civic is equipped with torque converter lockup,
electronic control and a logical control system that adapts to the road conditions and the driver’s
temperament.
